The Parks, Recreation & Tourism
Board met at 5:00 PM,
Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in the Nessler Center - Captain's Room, in Texas City, Texas, with the following in attendance:

NEW BUSINESS
(a)
Consider and take action on the minutes from the April 8, 2025, Parks, Recreation, & Tourism Board Meeting.
A motion was made by Christopher Walters to adopt the minutes, and seconded by Fatima Naeem.
Vote: 6-0 MOTION CARRIED.
(b)
Consider and take action on the minutes from the May 13, 2025, Parks, Recreation, & Tourism Board Meeting.
A motion was made by Christopher Walters to adopt the minutes, and seconded by Fatima Naeem.
Vote: 6-0 MOTION CARRIED.
(c)
Consider and take action on the Davison Home Operating Schedule and Fees Change Proposal.
A motion was made by Christopher Walters to accept the Davison Home Operating Schedule and Fees Changes, and seconded by Winifred Gilmore.
Vote: 6-0 MOTION CARRIED.

UPDATES
Nicole Miller, Director, informed the Advisory Board that Frank Mistretta has resigned, resulting in two vacant positions on the board.

STAFF REPORT
(a)
Aquatics
– Marcell F. – The water park is open daily with a lot of people in attendance; at the Natatorium we have had three swim meets this season.
Athletics
– JuMarcus T. – We have the summer track and field program going on as well as the summer tennis program and pickleball.
Lowry Fitnes Center
– Michael R. - For the month of May we had 8,733 member visits,1,552 silver sneakers, and 300 day passes.
Museum
– Shelby R. – Museum had the first free day of summer with 46 people coming in for that day. Bell House was open as well with 21 visitors. S.H.I.P. internship has started for the summer.
Parks & Shooting Range
– Byron S. – Kid Fisk event went well 230 people attended. Renovations of Splash Pads at Carver, Sanders and Godard Park are in progress. Shooting Range had TCPD and NASA Security training on Monday’s and Tuesday’s when the range is close to the public.
Recreation Centers
– Debra T. – Summer camp has started. At Carver has 30 children, Nessler has 40 children, and Lowry has 40 children in attendance. Field trips are held on Wednesday’s. This year we are taking one summer camp group at a time to the pool. This year we have also added life jackets for the little kids that can not swim.
Reservations
– Amanda G. – In May we had a lot of banquets , the car show on 6
th
street, Santa Fe had their Junior High School dance, at the end of May we had the 10k/5k Press Fun at Bay Street Park.
Senior Nessler
– Leonora M. – In the month of May they served 525 melas to the seniors. For transportation they provided 539 trips. Senior line dance is a big hit, we will continue to have it for June and July.
Special Events/Programs
– Michael R. – Gospel Fest was held on Friday, Saturday we held our Paint and Sip, and this Friday we will have out annual Poetry Slam, and Saturday we will have our Juneteenth Parade and Day in the Park.

Christopher Walters mentioned doing a collaboration with WWE Wrestling.

ADJOURN
Having no further business, Christopher Walters made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:55 PM. The motion was seconded by Winifred Gilmore.
Vote: 6-0 MOTION CARRIED.
