Consideration of a Change Order for the Canyon Lake Police Department Construction Project in the Amount of $79,356.00
     


Recommendation:

Approve a change order in the amount of $79,356.00 for the Canyon Lake Police Department Construction Project.

Background/Analysis:

On August 13, 2025, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Lowe Construction, Inc. in the amount of $637,230 for the Canyon Lake Police Department Construction Project.  As part of the project the City Council approved a 10% contingency to cover the cost of any contract change order work. 

Construction on the project began on August 18, 2025, and is nearing completion.  During the course of the project it was determined by the engineer of record that certain additional work needed to be performed, which is outlined in the attached change order.  Since this additional work exceeds the original project contingency, staff is requesting that the City Council approve a contract change order with Lowe Construction, Inc. in the amount of $79,356.00.

Funds sufficient to cover the proposed additional work is included in the $1,200,000 police department start-up funds approved by the City Council on August 13, 2025.
