Recommendation:

Designate a voting delegate and up to two alternates for the League of California Cities 2026 Annual Conference and Expo Annual Business Meeting.

Background/Analysis:

The League of California Cities ("Cal Cities") will hold its 2026 Annual Conference and Expo on September 23–25, 2026, in Anaheim, California. As part of the conference, the General Assembly will convene on September 25, 2026, and will consist of one appointed voting delegate from each member city. During the General Assembly, voting delegates play a vital role by representing their cities and voting on resolutions that help shape Cal Cities' policies and advocacy priorities.

To cast a vote during the General Assembly, the City of Canyon Lake must designate a voting delegate and up to two alternates, one of whom may vote if the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity.  Voting delegates may either be an elected or appointed official.   Once designated by the City Council, the City Clerk will submit the Voting Delegate form affirming the action taken by the City Council.

Fiscal Impact Yes/No:
No

Additional Fiscal Information:

There is no fiscal impact associated with designating voting delegates.  Costs associated with attendance at the conference have been included in the City’s FY 26-27 adopted operating budget.
