Adopt Resolution Nos. 2026-39 and 2026-40 certifying the sufficiency of the initiative petition entitled "Canyon Lake Public Safety and Emergency Response Protection Measure" and calling a General Municipal Election for the Initiative on November 3, 2026, requesting that the County of Riverside provide election administration services and taking all actions required by the California Elections Code.

On April 22, 2026, proponents of the "Canyon Lake Public Safety and Emergency Response Protection Measure" ("Initiative") submitted a Notice of Intent to Circulate Petition and the text of the proposed Initiative to the City Clerk in accordance with the California Elections Code.

Signed petition sections were subsequently filed with the City Clerk and forwarded to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters for signature verification.  The Registrar of Voters has certified that the petition contains the number of valid signatures required under California Elections Code section 9215 to qualify the Initiative for placement on the November 3, 2026, ballot.

The proposed resolutions certify the sufficiency of the Initiative and call a General Municipal Election to submit the Initiative to the voters at the November 3, 2026, election and establish the procedures for the preparation and filing of the impartial analysis, ballot arguments, and rebuttal arguments as required by the California Elections Code.
