RECOMMENDATION

No formal action is needed as this is an information item.

BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)

The Recreation Division each year unveils new programs and refreshes old programs. Staff will be presenting an overview of the programs that will be offered this Spring and Summer and provide some vision for the new and expanded programs that will be available during the Fall and Winter of 2024.

STAKEHOLDERS

The recreation offerings for spring and summer are intended to provide quality recreational experiences for all the citizens of Billings.

ALTERNATIVES

City Council may:
  • Approve; or,
  • Not Approve

FISCAL EFFECTS

The Recreation Division aims to recover all direct costs of the programs offered. In 2023 the Rec2U program was offered free of cost. This summer, staff is proposing to expand the program to 4 days/week and 8 locations. Alternative funding sources are being explored but the Rec2U program might require a General Fund request.
