RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that City Council accept the donation from Rimrock Credit Union in the amount of $10,000.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
Council policy requires that any donation greater than $500 must be approved by the City Council. City Council is being asked to accept a donation in the amount of $10,000 from Rimrock Credit Union. The donation will be used by Billings Police Department School Resource Officers to create a week-long camp in the Summer, 2025 for incoming seventh graders to build leadership and teamwork skills through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) and in conjunction with Law Enforcement. The camp will be at a local Billings School that has breakfast and lunch programs.
The students would arrive at 0730, have breakfast, have a morning briefing, physical training to get moving, games and activities for breaks or team building, several different STEAM projects focusing on crash investigations and diagrams, bomb technicians, drone operations, SWAT, TCCC (medical training with equipment from the schools), crisis intervention, firearms safety, and impairment of drugs/alcohol/THC, online safety, bullying/cyberbullying, conflict resolution. The students would also provide back to the community with a service project such as graffiti abatement, cleaning up a park or public area, or campus beautification for schools.

ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the donation to the Billings Police Department in the amount of $10,000 or;
- Disapprove the donation to the Billings Police Department in the amount of $10,000 and the program will be cancelled.
FISCAL EFFECTS
There is no impact on the General Fund since all activities will be supported by donations.
