The Fire Department proposes to replace an existing 1986 mobile air supplied van, Unit 4075, under the City's Equipment Replacement Program.  Staff requested that each bidder provide costs of having the vehicle delivered to the City from the factory or having it picked up by the City at the factory in Indiana. The call for sealed bids was published on May 19 and May 26, and the bids were opened May 31, 2011. Thirteen bid packets were either mailed or emailed to prospective bidders.  I-State Truck Center of Billings was the sole bidder.  A summary of I-State Truck Center's Bid: Base Bid #2: Delivered - $96,836.00; Base Bid #2-A: Picked up from factory - $95,031.00.

Council may:

• Accept the bid from I-State Truck Center; or
• Reject the bid from I-State Truck Center.

Funds are part of the on-going equipment replacement program reserves.  A total of $115,022 was earmarked within the program for replacement of the mobile supplied air van for the fire department.

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the bid from I-State Truck Center, 4600 South Frontage Road, Billings, MT, for their Base Bid #2, delivered to Billings in the amount of $96,836.00, plus Voyager backup camera w/color LCD monitor in the amount of $524.00, for a total bid award of $97,360.00.
