RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve the second and final reading of the amended ordinance BMCC 18-1100 Graffiti.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
At its meeting on January 27, 2025, the City Council conducted a public hearing and approved the first reading of the amended ordinance BMCC 18-1100. Amendments refined language pertaining to the graffiti rewards and reimbursements section of the code (BMCC 18-1105) changing the wording from accept to approve and from council to administrator. This clarifies the approval process for graffiti rewards, keeping it as an administrative function as originally intended. A clean version of BMCC 18-110 Graffiti is attached to this staff memo for final approval.
STAKEHOLDERS
The suggested amendments to this ordinance will expedite the graffiti reward process and could encourage more citizens to report graffiti vandals.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve BMCC 18-1100 Graffiti on second reading as submitted; or,
- Not Approve BMCC 18-1100 Graffiti on second reading as submitted.
FISCAL EFFECTS
Approval does not have a negative impact on the code enforcement budget.
