PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
At the January 28, 2008, City Council Meeting, DOWL HKM was awarded a contract to provide construction administration services that included bridge inspection, construction staking, shop drawing review, and providing as-built drawings. Due to the contractors sequencing, the duration of the bridge construction was prolonged, and DOWL HKM expended more time than was anticipated on construction inspection. DOWL HKM tried to bring the budget back on track during the final phases of the bridge construction by limiting inspection hours. The construction has been completed and DOWL HKM has expended the allowable budget. This amendment will provide the necessary funding for DOWL HKM to complete construction as-builts and project close out.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
Council may:
- Approve the Professional Services Contract Amendment No. 3 with DOWL HKM Engineering in the amount of $13,062.83; or
- Not approve the Professional Services Contract Amendment No. 3 with DOWL HKM Engineering
FINANCIAL IMPACT
This contract amendment is for $13,062.83 and brings the total Professional Services Contract with DOWL HKM Engineering to $723,846.83. Funding for this contract amendment will be from Arterial Funds.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the Professional Services Contract amendment for W.O. 05-20, Aronson Avenue, with DOWL HKM Engineering in the amount of $13,062.83.
