PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The City's current EJ Johnson radio system will continue to provide radio communications until the Cassidian P25 digital radio system is installed. We expect that the EF Johnson system will be active through the 2nd quarter of 2012. Given the age of the EF Johnson system, it is essential that on-going maintenance and repair is provided to ensure the system remains operable during its last year of service. The purchase price for the EF Johnson Maintenance Agreement is $152,979.61.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
Council may approve the purchase of a one-year radio system maintenance agreement; Council may reject the purchase of a one-year radio system maintenance agreement.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds for maintenance of the city-wide radio system are available in the 800 MHz budget.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the purchase of a one-year EF Johnson radio system maintenance agreement.
