PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The City of Billings has contracted with Yellowstone County for the past several years to provide the Sheriff's Department with New World Public Safety access, disk storage, computer processing, program maintenance and operations to support its existing data processing requirements in exchange for a charge based on the actual cost of resources used during the prior fiscal year. This is an annual agreement. The City Council will consider whether to renew the agreement for FY 2010.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the annual Agreement with the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Department; or
- Not approve the annual Agreement with the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Department.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The annual charge for July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010, is $99,939.00. The annual charge for the prior year was $89,761.00. The increase of $10,178.00 is due to the increased usage of the Public Safety Systems.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the agreement to provide data processing services for the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Department in the amount of $99,939.00.
