On November 14, 2011, Council approved a contract with Kompan, Inc. for $99,862.90 to provide and install playground equipment at the Yellowstone Family Park located at the northwest corner of 54th Street West and Bobby Jones Boulevard.  In meetings held with the Yellowstone Family Park Committee, they expressed a desire to have additional pieces of equipment in the playground.  Funding is available in the park development budget, so a contract amendment was generated for $10,022.45.  Since this amendment exceeds the signing authority of the City Administrator, Council approval is requested. 

The following alternatives were analyzed:  1)  Approve the Amendment to the Contract for Yellowstone Family Park Playground - MLJ10142011.  2)  Not approve the Amendment and the additional playground equipment will not be installed with the project funding.  The equipment could be added later but will probably cost more and will not be part of the SID, so a cash payment would be required from the homeowners to the equipment vendor instead of being able to spread the cost over several years.

The cost of additional pieces of playground equipment will be paid from the Yellowstone Family Park SID # 1392.  There will be no financial impact to the City.

Staff recommends approval of an Amendment to Contract with Kompan, Inc. in the amount of $10,022.45 for the Yellowstone Family Park Playground - MLJ10142011.
