PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The Montana State ELKS Association wishes to donate $895 to the Billings Police Department to purchase a Med-Return Kiosk for the Drug Take Back Program. There is currently one Kiosk located downtown at the Billings Police Department. Two more Kiosks have been ordered. One will reside at National Forest Service Office in the Heights and the other will be located at the Military Reserve Center on Gable Road. The Kiosk that would be purchased with this donation will be placed at the Solid Waste Division on Midland Road. The Police Department has the goal to have Kiosks spread geographically throughout the City and this purchase would satisfy that goal. Council policy requires that any donation of more than $500 to the City must be approved by the City Council. A donation verification form has been signed and will be forwarded to the City Clerk. City Council is being asked to accept the $895 donation from the Montana State ELKS Association.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
- Accept the $895 donation from the Montana State ELKS Association ; or
- Not accept the $895 donation which would result in the absence of a Med-Return Kiosk anywhere other than at the Police Department.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact to the City as the $895 will cover all of the costs of the Med-Return Kiosk.
