PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The Breakfast Exchange Club of Billings wishes to donate $6,500 for the Crime Stoppers program. The Crime Stoppers program continues to be an important tool for law enforcement within the greater Billings community and has aided in the apprehension of several criminals. The information produced by this program often provides a pivotal lead necessary for apprehension and prosecution. This program would not be possible without donations from the community.
The donation will be split with $4,500 deposited in the monetary rewards program, and $2,000 will be utilized for advertising for Crime Stoppers.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The City Council may:
- Accept the $6,500 donation from the Breakfast Exchange Club of Billings for the Crime Stoppers program; or
- Do not accept the $6,500 donation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
This donation will be used solely for the Crime Stoppers program. Montana Code Annotated Section 7-8-103 requires that donations or gifts that are designated for a particular purpose must be used in that way.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that City Council accept a $6,500 donation from the Breakfast Exchange Club of Billings for the Crime Stoppers program.
