PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT

On July 23, 2012, Council approved a contract with Fisher Construction, Inc. to construct the new gazebo at South Park.  The South Side Neighborhood Task Force has been actively seeking donations to fund upgrades to the South Park Gazebo project and on August 1, 2012 presented the Parks and Recreation Department with a check in the amount of $34,000. This amount will go toward funding Bid Alternates #1 and 2 to provide upgraded features on the gazebo as described in Change Order #1, see Attachment A.  Bid Alternates #1 and 2 total $35,000, the remaining $1,000 not covered by the donation will be covered by the project funds.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED

Council may:
  • Approve Change Order #1.
  • Not approve Change Order #1 and provide direction to staff.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The total cost for Change Order #1 is $35,000.  The donation from the South Side Neighborhood Task Force totaling $34,000 will be applied toward Change Order #1.  The remaining $1,000 will be covered by the project funds.  There will be no financial impact to the City.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve Change Order #1 in the amount of $35,000 to fund upgrades to the South Park Gazebo project.
