PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
United Way of Yellowstone County has awarded the City of Billings grant funds to be used for the Sober Truth On Preventioin (STOP) Act grant in the amount of $12,100.00. The goals of the STOP Act grant are to enforce the underage drinking law through patrol, alcohol retail sale training, reverse stings and compliance checks. $9,400 will be used for officer overtime to conduct the patrols, reverse stings and compliance checks. $2,700 will be used for officer training.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The City Council may:

- Not accept the STOP Act grant of $12,100 which would eliminate the special patrols, alcohol retail sale training, reverse stings and compliance checks.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact to the City as there is no City match required for this grant.
