PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Staff opened bids on March 26, 2013, for W.O. 13-05 IT Conduit to the 911 Center. At the April 8, 2013, Council Meeting, the bid award was delayed until April 22nd. This project will construct conduit from the MET Transfer Center to the Public Works Depot Building, the Parks and Recreation Building and the 911 Center. The conduit will allow the city to run new fiber optic lines to each of these buildings from City Hall.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may:
- Award Work Order 13-05 IT Conduit to 911 Center to C & L Service, Inc. in the amount of $204,206; or
- Do not award Work Order 13-05. If not awarded, the city would have to re-bid or cancel the project.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding for Work Order 13-05 IT Conduit to 911 Center is from reserve funds. $165,486 will come from the IT Fund reserves and $38,720 will come from the Central Telephone Fund reserves. Fourth quarter budget amendments will be needed to authorize this spending. Yellowstone County will share the project cost. Cost and ownership details are described in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that is presented in a separate agenda item

RECOMMENDATION
