PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The replacement of the existing Landfill Compactor (Unit #238) was approved in the FY2014 budget under the guidelines of the Equipment Replacement Plan. A supplemental budget request was approved to upgrade this compactor to the next larger size. Specifications were developed by the Solid Waste Division staff and were sent to four vendors. A call for sealed bids was published on January 10 and 17, 2014 and bids were opened on January 28, 2014.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may:
- Award the bid as recommended; or
- Not award the bid. The unit at the landfill that this vehicle replaces is not functioning and is not repairable. If this bid is not awarded the landfill will only have one compactor for use.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Solid Waste Division's FY2014 budget includes adequate funds to replace the existing compactor. The City received 3 bids as outlined below:

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council award the lowest bid to T & E Equipment in the amount of $707,294.00.
