A new perimeter fence for the City's landfill is included in the approved FY2014 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and the FY 2014 budget for the Public Works Department.  The fence will be installed along Hillcrest and Stratton Roads.  The fence will consist of a six foot tall chain link fence with three strand barb wire on the top.  The purpose of the fence is to help control trespassers, litter and aid in keeping wildlife from the entering landfill property.

The Council may:

• Award a construction contract to build the perimeter fence to the low bidder,; or
• Reject all bids.  If all bids are rejected and the fence is not constructed the issues that remain now will continue.

Bids were opened on Tuesday April 29, 2014.  The bids shown above were received:for this project.

Schedule 1A is the bid for the six foot tall fence on Hillcrest and 500 feet of fence to the north property boundary.
Schedule 1B adds the barb wire to the top of the fence for this section.

Schedule 2A is the bid for the six foot tall fence on Stratton Road.
Schedule 2B adds the barb wire to the top of the fence for this section.


The project is being funded by Solid Waste funds approved in the FY14 budget.  There are sufficient funds to cover the costs to construct all of the schedules.

Staff recommends Council award a construction contract to the lowest bidder, Mild Fence Co, in the amount of $102,150.00 for schedules 1A, 1B, 2A and 2B.
