PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The Billings Fire Department has received a $2,000 donation from Exxon Mobil Corporation. This donation will purchase fire prevention public education and fire safety related items that can be handed out to children and adults throughout the year during public education events. City policy requires that any donation exceeding $500 must be accepted by the Council before the funds can be expended.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may accept or reject the donation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Billings Fire Department budgets $4,000 per year for fire prevention education and the funds from Exxon Mobil will allow the Billings Fire Department to purchase additional materials and supplies that can be distributed during fire safety events.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends acceptance of the $2,000 donation from Exxon Mobil Corporation for the purchase of fire prevention/safety education supplies.
