PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
On April 9, 2012, the City Council approved a five-year contract with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. to provide all Civil Engineering services for the Airport, including project designs, surveys, development of project plans, specifications and bidding documents, and contract administration. The five-year term contract is amended each time a project is undertaken, and Amendment Sixteen for $111,047 includes all of the services listed above. The Airport recently constructed a new Employee Parking Lot east of the Terminal Building, which now allows the Airport to covert the old employee parking lot into a paid parking area. This will increase the amount of paid parking by over 200 stalls and reduce the use of non-revenue producing overflow parking. Engineering services are needed to design, bid and monitor the project. The scope of work and associated fees have been negotiated by staff and are acceptable for this engineering work.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve Amendment Sixteen with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. for the Engineering services to convert the old employee parking lot into paid parking; or
- Decline to approve Amendment Sixteen, possibly delaying the project.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The total cost of the Engineering services included in Amendment Sixteen is $111,047. The funding source for this project is available in the Airport's Capital Improvement account.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve Amendment Sixteen with Morrison-Maierle, Inc. for $111,047 to provide the Engineering services for converting the old employee parking lot into a paid parking area.
