PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
W.O. 15-22 King Avenue West Trail will widen the existing 5-foot wide concrete sidewalk to a 10-foot wide multi-use trail along the south side of King Avenue West, between 32nd Street West and the BBWA Canal bridge. There are existing trails on both ends of this section of sidewalk so this widening project will make the ten foot trail section complete. Work will also include removing and replacing existing ramps with the necessary ADA requirements. The project was advertised on May 14, 21, 28, and June 4, 2015, in the Billings Times and on the City's website. Bids were received on June 9, 2015. There were 3 bidders and CMG Construction, Inc. was the apparent low bidder. Staff is requesting that the bid award be delayed to allow time to review the bids further.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may delay award of bid until July 13, 2015, Council meeting. There are no viable options to this alternative.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Staff is requesting that the award be delayed until July 13, 2015, to allow time for additional bidding review. Financial information will be presented in the Council memo for July 13, 2015.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council delay award of this contract until the July 13, 2015 meeting.
