PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The Humane Society of the United States wishes to donate $1,500 to the Animal Shelter to fund City employee travel to the 2016 Animal Care Expo in Las Vegas, NV. Billings Animal Control has attended the Expo in the past and found the information and resources to be critical in keeping up with current equipment and trends for animal care that may affect our community. The scholarship will cover travel costs for one person.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The City Council may:
- Accept the donation in the amount of $1,500 from the Humane Society of the United States; or
- Not accept the donation in the amount of $1,500 from the Humane Society of the United States and employees will not receive this training.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact to the General Fund as the donation will cover all costs of the travel and training.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the donation in the amount of $1,500 from the Humane Society of the United States.
