A fee increase of approximately 3% (see attached resolution) in the City of Billings Mountview Cemetery will raise approximately $3,000 in additional funds per year. These additional funds will be used to offset the Cemetery's impact on the General Fund.  Cemetery fees were last increased on May 12, 2014. The Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Board reviewed the proposed 2016 Cemetery fee adjustment at their March 9, 2016 board meeting and recommends approval.  The proposed fee increase is intended to start with the new fiscal year on July 1, 2016.

 

The City Council may approve or disapprove the fee increase. Approving the increase lessens the Cemetery's impact on the General Fund for its operations.

This proposal will raise General Fund revenue approximately $3,000.

It has been the practice of the City to increase fees in Mountview Cemetery every few years to try to offset the impact of its operation on the General Fund.  Those increases have been 3%, 5% or more depending on the time interval between each of the increases.
