PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The Breakfast Exchange Club of Billings would like to donate $1,000 to the Billings Fire Department to purchase smoke detectors. Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. City policy requires donation exceeding $500.00 be accepted by the Council before the funds can be expended.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may approve or disapprove accepting the $1,000 donation for the purchase of smoke detectors from the Breakfast Exchange Club of Billings.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Accepting this $1,000 grant from the Breakfast Exchange Club will allow the Fire Prevention Bureau to purchase smoke detectors that will be provided and installed in homes without working smoke detectors.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the $1,000 donation from the Breakfast Exchange Club to purchase smoke detectors.
