PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The Street/Traffic Division for the Public Works Department opened three bids on December 13th to purchase two new 58,000 GVW 12 yard dump trucks with plows and sanders. This purchase will replace two existing trucks that are included in the FY2017 Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP).
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council May:
- Approve purchasing the two current model 12yd Dump trucks from the low bidder, or:
- Do not approve the purchase. .If the bid is not awarded the Public Works Department will continue using the existing unit that is near the end of its useful life.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The City received 3 bids for the two current model 12yd Dump trucks as shown below:

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the low bid from I-State in the total amount of $377,719.00 (2 trucks); less the trade in of unit 1151/1278 & 1354 which would be a dump truck, plow and sander for $17,000.00; including the 5 year warranty in the amount of $4,610.00 for each truck ($9,220 for two trucks); and purchasing at the net price of $369,939.00.
