PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The Street/Traffic Division for the Public Works Department opened three bids on December 13, to purchase a 4-Wheel Mechanical Broom High Dump Sweeper. The purchase will replace an existing sweeper that is included in the FY 2017 Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP).
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council May:
- Approve purchasing the 4 wheel Mechanical Broom High Dump Sweeper from the low bidder, or:
- Do not approve the purchase. If the bids are rejected the unit will not be replaced in a timely manner and the existing unit will be used beyond the recommendations of the Equipment Replacement Committee and the Public Works Department.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The City received 3 bids for the 4 Wheel Mechanical Broom High Dump Sweeper as shown below:

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the low bid from Titan Machinery in the amount of $239,000.00; less the trade in of $40,000.00; including 5 yr warranty for $3,890.00; and purchasing the sweeper for the net price of $202,890.00.
