PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The City Council approved a Landfill Gas Sales Agreement with Montana-Dakota Utilities in August 2008. The agreement is due to expire on August 25, 2010. MDU is requesting an amendment to the agreement to extend the contract to December 1, 2010.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may: Approve the contract extension with MDU; or decline to approve the contract extension with MDU.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The financial impact to the City of Billings is a three month delay of startup of the landfill gas extraction. There are no financial costs to the City of Billings.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the extension of the agreement with MDU.
