PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT

W.O. 17-01, Schedule 1, 6th Avenue North Water and Sewer Replacement Project, will replace approximately 1,950 feet of 20-inch diameter water main and approximately 2,450 feet of 18-inch to 27-inch diameter sanitary sewer in 6th Avenue North from North 27th Street to Grand Avenue.

The project was advertised on March 23rd, 30th, and April 6th in the Billings Times and on the City's Website. Bids were opened on April 11, 2017, and two bids were received. COP Construction LLC submitted the lowest responsible bid.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED

City Council may:
  • Approve the construction contract with COP Construction LLC in the amount of $1,893,221.00, or;
  • Do not approve the construction contract.  If the project is not constructed, the City's water and waste water system will continue to experience ongoing maintenance problems such as more frequently occurring main breaks and sewer issues in this area.  Future repair costs and property damage claims can be minimized by completing this project.
