PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
W.O. 17-26 includes developing a regional storm water detention pond near the southwest corner of 62nd Street West and Rimrock Road. The concept of this regional facility is to provide a storm water mitigation solution for future road improvements and that adjacent private development can utilize. Staff requested the services of an engineering firm to provide design and construction administration and DOWL was selected through the Request for Proposals (RFP) process. Other firms considered were Brown and Caldwell, Performance Engineering, and Morrison-Maierle. The contract amount is $145,704.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may:
- Award the Contract for Professional Services to DOWL; or
- Do not award the contract. If the contract is not awarded, developing the 62nd and Rimrock storm water detention pond will be delayed and development within the surrounding areas will have to create an alternative storm water mitigation solution.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost of professional services is $145,704. FY 2018 Storm Drain Funds will be used for this project.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve a Contract for Professional Services with DOWL for $145,704 for W.O. 17-26; 62nd and Rimrock Stormwater Detention Pond.
