PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Five bids were received by the Street/Traffic Division for the Public Works Department on September 12, 2017, to purchase 2 - 2018 37,000 GVW single axle trucks with dump/sander/plow. This purchase will replace existing trucks, #1182 and #1189 that are included in the FY18 Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP).
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve purchasing 2 - 37,000 GVW single axle trucks with dump/sander/plow from the low bidder, or;
- Disapprove the purchase. The existing trucks are nearing the end of their useful lives.

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the low bid and purchase the 2 trucks from I-State Truck Center (Bid#2) in the amount of $271,236.00. This amount includes the trade in of units #1182 and #1189 ($38,000.00) and 5-year engine/transmission warranty for two trucks at $6,236.00.
