PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Bids were received and evaluated for W.O. 10-11 WTF High Service Pump Station H2-1 Pump Replacement on June 15, 2010. The purpose of this project is to replace an aging pump and equipment that is not efficient and may become unreliable. The existing H2-1 Pump was installed in 1977 and is one of the main pumps at the Water Treatment Facility with a pumping capacity of 21.2 million gallons per day. This project includes replacement of the High Service Pump H2-1, motor, discharge isolation valve, pump control valve, and associated piping.
Only one bid was received on this project. The contractor who provided the bid and would perform the work has successfully completed several projects with the City. The bid was lower than the engineer's estimate. Staff is confident that recommending approval of this bid is in the best interest of the City.
