PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Work Order 16-05 Central Avenue will widen Central Avenue from 32nd Street West to Shiloh Road. City staff has been negotiating with the adjacent owners for the necessary right-of-way. The needed right-of-way was identified on the design project plans and must be acquired prior to construction. There are three "strip parks" located adjacent to street right-of-way along Central Avenue between 36th and 38th Streets West. These parks will need to be rededicated as street right-of-way for adequate width in the construct the Central Avenue project. Billings PRPL staff are agreeable to this rededication.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the right-of-way rededication, or;
- Deny the right-of-way rededication. If not approved, Central Avenue will need to be partially constructed on park land.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact of the right-of-way rededication.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the right-of-way rededication, and authorize the Mayor to sign the resolution to rededicate the park land.
