PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The South Billings Urban Renewal Association (SBURA) is requesting approval to expend $3,000 in tax increment funds from the South Billings Boulevard Urban Renewal District (SBBURD) for development of a District website. The District does not have a web presence and should have this tool available for the public and district property owners to provide up to date information on the South Billings Boulevard Urban Renewal District. The website will allow for more timely sharing of news, redevelopment activities, and public relations information. The South Billings Urban Renewal Association intends to be a more visible and active community organization through the website at www.SouthBillings.com. The SBURA Board of Directors made a recommendation to City Council to approve this funding request at its April 3rd, 2018 Board of Directors meeting.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the recommendation from the SBURA on the expenditure of these funds for a District website, or;
- Disapprove the recommendation from the SBURA on the expenditure of these funds for a District website.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The total cost of developing a website for the SBBURD is estimated at up to $3,000. A quote from a local web developer is attached to this memo for reference. There is currently more than $6 million in the SBBURD Budget and so there are adequate funds available for payment of this District expense.
RECOMMENDATION
The South Billings Urban Renewal Association Board of Directors recommends approval of $3,000 from the South Billings Boulevard Urban Renewal District tax increment district funds for the development of a website.
