PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The City Parks and Recreation Department and the Fire Department are requesting temporary closure of Phipps Park from Friday, July 2 through Monday, July 5, 2010, for the 4th of July holiday because of the potential of wildland fire caused by fireworks.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
Council may:
- Approve the temporary closure of Phipps Park during the 4th of July holiday; or
- Not approve the temporary closure of Phipps Park during the 4th of July holiday.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact to the City for the temporary closure of Phipps Park.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends Council approve the temporary closure of Phipps Park during the 4th of July holiday.
