PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Bids were received by the Street/Traffic Division of the Public Works Department on October 9, 2018, to purchase a 2018 loader mounted snowblower. This snow blower is used for blowing snow into trucks when crews are removing snow from the streets. This purchase would replace an existing snow blower as part of the FY 2019 Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP) and the FY 2019 budget for the Street/Traffic Division. The City received 3 bids and Solid Waste Systems is the low bidder.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve purchasing the 2018 loader mounted snow blower from Solid Waste Systems, or;
- Disapprove the purchase and reject all bids. If the new loader mounted snow blower is not purchased, the Public Works Department will continue using the existing snow blower that is reaching the end of its useful life. Maintenance costs will increase and reliability will decrease.

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve purchasing a 2018 loader mounted snowblower from Solid Waste Systems for the net amount of $162,478.
