PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Work Order 17-05 Monad Road and Daniel Street Traffic Signal Improvements will construct water line replacement, storm drain improvements, street widening and a traffic signal at the intersection. City staff has been negotiating with the adjacent owners for the necessary right-of-way and easements. The needed easement was identified on the design project plans and must be acquired prior to construction. MC Real Estate Holdings, Inc. owns the property south of Monad Road and east of Daniel Street. MC Real Estate Holdings, Inc. has agreed to grant the easement in exchange for constructing and maintaining the water line connection on their property. The easement will be used so that the required water line replacement can be connected to the private water line and the connection can be maintained by the City.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the Water Line Construction and Maintenance Easement Agreement with MC Real Estate Holdings, Inc. or;
- Deny the easement. If not approved, the water line replacement within the intersection will have to be constructed with a separate project which will require additional impacts to the intersection after this project has been completed.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost of the easement is being offset by the construction of the water service.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve and accept the Water Line Construction and Maintenance Easement Agreement with MC Real Estate Holdings, Inc.
