PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
Work Order 17-05 Monad Road and Daniel Street Traffic Signal Improvements will construct water line replacement, storm drain improvements, street widening and a traffic signal at the intersection. City staff has been negotiating with the adjacent owners for the necessary right-of-way. The needed right-of-way was identified on the design project plans and must be acquired prior to construction. Wymont owns the property south of Monad Road and west of Daniel Street. Wymont has agreed to dedicate the necessary right-of-way in exchange for constructing the intersection improvements associated with the project.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve the right-of-way agreement and quit claim deed with Wymont or;
- Deny the right-of-way agreement and quit claim deed. If not approved, there will not be enough right-of-way to provide signal poles in the southwest corner.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Wymont is dedicating the right-of-way in exchange for widening of the intersection, traffic signals, water line replacement, and storm drain improvements.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the right-of-way agreement and quit claim deed with Wymont.
