PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
The purpose of this contract is to provide design and construction administration services related to a project that is to reconstruct King Avenue East from Orchard Lane to Jackson Street in accordance with the South Billings Urban Renewal District's Master Plan. The planned improvements will generally consist of road widening, street lighting, drainage improvements, water main installation and various pedestrian improvements. Staff requested the services of an engineering firm to provide design and construction administration services for the project and Sanderson Stewart was selected through the Request for Proposals (RFP) process. Other firms considered were HDR, KLJ and DOWL. The contract amount is $489,550.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The Council may:
- Award the Contract for Professional Services to Sanderson Stewart; or
- Do not award the contract. If the contract is not awarded, construction of the improvements will be delayed.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost of design and construction administration services is $489,550. Adequate SBURD TIF Funds were budgeted in FY 2019 to award this contract.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve a contract with Sanderson Stewart for $489,550 for the WO 19-22; King Avenue East - Orchard Lane to Jackson Street, reconstruction project.
