PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT

Work Order 17-05: Monad Road and Daniel Street Traffic Signal Improvements, is a project consisting of water line replacement, storm drain improvements, road widening, and traffic signal installation. The project includes dedicated left turn lanes for each leg of Monad Road and a dedicated right turn lane for the north leg of Daniel Street. There will also be updates to striping within the intersection.

The project was advertised on April 26th, May 3rd and May 10th, 2019 on the City's Website and in Yellowstone County News. Bids were opened on May 14th, 2019. Two bids were received and Knife River - Billings submitted the lowest responsible bid.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED

The Council may:
  • Award Work Order 17-05: Monad Road and Daniel Street Traffic Signal Improvements to Knife River - Billings, in the amount of $931,870.10; or
  • Do not award Work Order 17-05.  If not awarded, the traffic signal and intersection improvements will not be completed.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The following bids were received and evaluated:

Water, Storm, and Arterial funds will be used for this project. Adequate funding for this project is available in the approved budget for FY 19.
 

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that Council award W.O. 17-05: Monad Road and Daniel Street Traffic Signal Improvements to Knife River - Billings, in the amount of $931,870.10.
