W.O. 19-01: Schedule 2, Montana Avenue Sewer Main Replacement Project, will replace approximately 1,400 feet of 8-inch and 2,000 feet of 18-inch diameter sanitary sewer main. The location of the project is in Montana Avenue from North 15th Street to North 18th Street and in the alley between Montana Avenue and 1st Avenue North from North 18th to North 21st Street. The sewer laterals crossing 1st Avenue will also be replaced. In addition, approximately 900 feet of water main in 1st Avenue North will be replaced with an 8-inch water main.

The project was advertised on April 26th, May 3rd, and May 10th, in the Yellowstone County News and on the City's website. Bids were opened on May 14, 2019, and three bids were received. COP Construction, LLC submitted the lowest responsible bid.

City Council may:

• Approve the construction contract for W.O. 19-01: Schedule 2, Montana Avenue Sewer Main Replacement Project to COP Construction, LLC, in the amount of $1,550,477, or;
• Do not approve the construction contract.  If the project is not constructed, the City's wastewater system will continue to experience ongoing maintenance problems such as more frequently occurring sewer back ups and breaks in this area.  Future repair costs and property damage claims can be minimized by completing this project.

Sewer and water funds will be used for this project.  Adequate funding for this project is available in the approved budget for FY19.

 

Staff recommends that the City Council approve a contract with COP Construction, LLC for W.O. 19-01: Schedule 2, Montana Avenue Sewer Main Replacement, in the amount of $1,550,477.
