PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
City election ward boundaries must be adjusted to conform to city limit amendments resulting from the exclusion of city property. The City Council approved the exclusion of the portion of Broadwater Avenue located between 56th Street West and 58th Street West, (Annexation #10-01) on August 9, 2010 by Resolution #10- 18976 requiring a change in the boundaries of Ward V. Two readings are required for this action. The first reading of the ordinance was approved on August 23, 2010, and the second reading is scheduled for September 13, 2010.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
The City Council may approve the ordinance to modify the boundary of Ward V on second reading or may deny the ordinance to modify the boundary of Ward V on second reading.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no budget/financial impact from this action.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve this ordinance on second reading removing recently excluded property from Ward V.
