PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
W.O. 20-09, 24th St W & Overland Ave Traffic Signal Improvements, will construct a traffic signal at the intersection. John V. Negu owns the property southwest of the intersection and has agreed to grant an easement for constructing and maintaining a traffic signal foundation and associated signal conduit on his property. The easement will be used so that the traffic signal can be placed on the back side of the sidewalk, a safe distance from public traffic and pedestrian facilities.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Accept the Traffic Signal Easement with John V. Negu, or;
- Do not accept the easement. If not accepted, the design of the radius in the southwest corner of the intersection will need to be modified to create a safe location within right of way for the traffic signal foundation and associated conduit. The alternate design is less desirable than the original design utilizing the easement.
FISCAL EFFECTS
There is no cost to the city for the acceptance of the easement.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that City Council accept the Traffic Signal Easement with John V. Negu.
