PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT
As programmed with the operations of the new transfer facility at the Landfill, Public Works budgeted for the purchase of three waste hauler trucks to operate the new drop off facility at the Landfill. The equipment is designed to take the trailers of waste from the building to the pile.The equipment needs to be ordered now as there is several months lead time in receiving it. The trucks are necessary in order for the drop off center to be functional when construction is complete this fall. The equipment was advertised on May 15th and May 22nd, 2020 in the Yellowstone County News and on the City's website. Bids were opened on May 26th and 2 bids were received. Montana Peterbilt submitted the lowest, responsible bid.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED
City Council may:
- Approve purchasing the three waste hauler trucks from Montana Peterbilt .
- Disapprove the purchase and reject all bids, If not approved the new drop off facility will not work efficiently or as intended.
FISCAL EFFECTS
The following bids were received:
The purchase is included in the FY 2020 budget for the Solid Waste Division in the amount of $450,000. The additional funding needed for these trucks will come from cost savings from previous FY20 equipment purchases that have come in under budget.

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council award the bid for the three waste hauler trucks to Montana Peterbilt in the amount of $570,477.00.
