BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
The purpose of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is to advise the City Council, Mayor, County Commissioners, Planning Board, and all departments and boards of the city and county with regard to non-motorized transportation matters. There are 7 seats on BPAC. Three represent the City, three represent the County, and one represents the Planning Board. BPAC has 6 current members with one seat open in the County. The non-profit Billings TrailNet also has one ex-official, non-voting position on BPAC.
BPAC is giving its annual presentation to the City Council, County Commission and Planning Board this summer in July and August. Topics from the presentation will include an overview of active transportation plans, how biking and walking infrastructure increases safety, and how usage of trails has changed as a result of COVID-19.
