RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council hold a public hearing and approve this ordinance on first reading, adding recently annexed property to Ward I.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
City election ward boundaries must be adjusted to conform to city limit amendments resulting from annexation of property into the City. Propriedad, LLC, submitted a petition to annex land they own at 1053 Lincoln Lane. The subject property is Tract F of Certificate of Survey No. 537, totaling approximately .475 gross acres.The City Council conditionally approved the annexation on July 27, 2020. Conditions required a Development Agreement to be executed within 6 months. City Council approved the Development Agreement on August 24, 2020. The Ward Boundary Ordinance is the final step in closing AN 20-02.
This annexation requires a change in the boundaries of Ward I. Two readings are required for this action. The first reading of the ordinance is tonight at this Council meeting, along with a public hearing, and the second reading is scheduled for September 28, 2020.

ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the ordinance modifying the boundary of Ward I, or;
- Not approve the ordinance. Disapproval will not modify the boundary of Ward I and will create a problem where property inside the City Limits is not within a City Ward.
FISCAL EFFECTS
There is no budget/financial impact from this action.
