RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the low bid and purchase the two 2021 37,000 G.V.W. single axle trucks with dump/sander/plow from I-State Truck Center in the amount of $322,264.00. This includes the trade amount of $2,000 and the 5-year transmission/engine warranty in the amount of $2,797 each.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
One bid was received by the Public Works Street/Traffic Division on September 15, 2020 to purchase two 2021 37,000 G.V.W. single axle trucks with dump/sander/plow. This purchase will replace the existing unit 1195, 1986 Ford dump truck flatbed and a new dump truck. Both are included in the FY21 Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP) and in the FY21 budget.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve purchasing the two 2021 37,000 G.V.W. Single Axle Trucks with Dump/Sander/Plow, or;
- Disapprove the purchase. The existing unit is nearing the end of its useful life.
FISCAL EFFECTS
The budgeted amount of the equipment is $340,000.00. The City received 1 bid for the two 2021 37,000 G.V.W. single axle trucks with dump/sander/plow as shown below:
The bid is $17,736 less than the budgeted amount. The remaining budget will be utilized for other Street/Traffic division equipment overages.
