RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that City Council approve and award a contract to Ambitec, Inc. in the amount of $60,522 for the purchase of seventy-seven (77) level IIIA ballistic shields for patrol use.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
On December 7, 2020, the City Council approved the Billings Police Department to purchase 77 portable, light weight ballistic shields for patrol cars. An Invitation for Bids was advertised on April 9th and April 16th with bids opened on April 27th. Thirteen proposals were received and reviewed. The committee met on April 27th and made the unanimous decision to recommend award to Ambitec, Inc. in the amount of $60,522.00.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the Bid award to Ambitec, Inc. in the amount of $60,522; or,
- Not Approve the contract award to Ambitec, Inc. in the amount of $60,522 and provide further direction to staff.
FISCAL EFFECTS
The budget amendment for the purchase of the Ballistic Shields was approved by City Council on January 25, 2021.
