RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends City Council approve the resolution to change the name of Monad Road to Rocky Vista Way between Shiloh Road and 44th Street West.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
City staff received a request from Dr. David Park, Vice President and Founding Dean of Montana College of Osteopathic Medicine, to change the name of Monad Road within the St. Vincent Healthcare Subdivision. The College is currently being constructed adjacent to Monad Road west of Shiloh Road. The College requested that Monad Road from Shiloh Road to South 44th Street West be renamed to Rock Vista Way. Attached is a letter from Dr. Park requesting the street name change.
City staff has reviewed the request to rename the street. A street may be renamed by the City Council by resolution upon conducting a public hearing per BMCC 22-700 Renaming of Streets. Normally, City staff would recommend that street names remain consistent from end to end as changing the name for a section can cause confusion. Monad Road turns south at 44th Street West and is not planned to go further west. The only property owner addressed to Monad Road from Shiloh Road to South 44th Street is the medical school that is requesting the change. There are other properties that may be addressed to this section of street as they develop.

ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the Resolution and street name change to Rocky Vista Way; or,
- Not approve the name change.
FISCAL EFFECTS
The City will incur nominal costs for the map updates. New street name signs will be installed and paid for by the medical school.
