RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the purchase of an EOD Armored Transport Vehicle in the amount of $361,003 from LENCO Armored Vehicles.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
On October 24, 2022 City Council approved a Federal Homeland Security Grant to purchase an EOD Armored Transport Vehicle to be used by the Billings Police Department Bomb Squad. After researching vendors only one transport vehicle possessed the technical characteristics to meet the needs for an enlarged rear compartment area for storage and transport of one of our department's existing robots with a wide rear door and attachable ramp that will alow for deployment of the robot at incident scenes.
Staff is requesting that the City Council approve the purchase of the EOD Armored Transport Vehicle from LENCO Armored Vehicles in the amount of $361,003.

ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the purchase of the EOD Armored Transport Vehicle in the amount of $361,003 from LENCO Armored Vehicles; or,
- Not Approve the purchase of the EOD Armored Transport Vehicle in the amount of $361,003 from LENCO Armored Vehicles and provide further directions to staff.
FISCAL EFFECTS
This purchase will not affect the General Fund since no match is required and grant funds will pay for the EOD Amored Transport Vehicle.
